Subliminal Archives making debut at new Random Sample location - June 1st

For almost four years, Random Sample has been operating out of a small, cinder block cube tucked away in an alley behind Charlotte Avenue in Nashville’s West side. In addition to it’s main purpose as a gallery, the building has made itself a meeting place for the community with events like book clubs, clothing swaps, film screenings, and a frequent program of live music, often performed by experimental and electronic musicians both local and worldwide.

On the downbeat of June this year, the gallery will be making its first appearance out on the main strip of shops on Charlotte Avenue with next door neighbors like Rhino Books, Headquarters Coffee, and Global Education Center. Just around the corner from it’s former shell, it won’t be far from it’s original stomping grounds and visitors can enjoy the new surplus of elbow room.

Subliminal Archives is the brainchild of Andie Billheimer, who is one of three people who handle Random Sample’s operations in addition to owner/director: Linda Parrott, and arts programming director: Ivy Welsh. This new chapter for Random Sample will also mark the beginning of a vision to bring a highly curated selection of music to this neighborhood. Starting with a small batch of vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and other media upstairs in the main shop, Subliminal Archives will have it’s very first home in Random Sample’s new space.

Come celebrate from 5-8pm or visit during store hours: Tuesday-Sunday, 11-4pm.
